Purpose statement
CVD accounts for 30% of all deaths, but many of these deaths occur in old age and many more people survive cardiac events or are living with heart disease. Turning the tide of the cardio vascular disease epidemic in the 20th century was one of the greatest achievements in in the history of health care. The Heart Foundation has, and continues to play a leading role by investing in Research, advocating to government and policy makers, promoting and delivering programs and activities. This work contributes to achieving the Heart Foundation's Mission of an Australia Free of Heart Disease.
