Purpose statement

Our reporting group engages in a range of activities related to early children education, childcare and the provision of youth mentoring services. Our TRY Australia Children Services entity operates kindergartens and childcare centres which work to advance the education and development of children under 6 years of age. Specifically, this entity focuses on providing opportunities for children from poor or disadvantaged backgrounds to gain access early childhood education. The TRY Australia Mentoring entity focuses on assisting and encouraging the development of young people by providing adult volunteers to give support, friendship, guidance and leadership to people in the community and their families. This entity specifically works with youth aged between 7 and 20 years of age in the Western region of metropolitan Melbourne who are socially disadvantaged or are currently part of (or have been part of) child protection. The TRY Australia entity focuses on providing support across the organisation and ensures that early childhood education and youth services are being provided in those communities where there are high levels of disadvantage and need.
