Queensland Symphony Orchestra 2024 Highlights | 1. Performance and engagement | a. Record 242 performances and events delivered across the year. | b. Nearly 75,000 attendees at QSO concerts in Brisbane. | c. Record attendance of nearly 15,000 through regional touring engagements. | d. 28 secondary students from across Queensland performed in our SidebySide Program as part of our regional performances. | e. Our Academy Program supported the development of 7 emerging musicians, preparing them for potential careers in symphony orchestras. | 2. Audience and impact | a. Highest subscription revenue. | b. 94% of surveyed audience members said that our concerts support their emotional Wellbeing. | c. Social media content reached over 3.6 million views. | 3. New Australian music and commissions | a. 47 new Australian works performed, including QSO s commissioned Symphony No. 3 The Great Barrier Reef by Paul Dean, premiered in Port Douglas. | b. QSO Compose Program featured 29 new commissions from school age composers with 5 receiving repeat performances throughout the season. | 4. Commitment to reconciliation | a. Our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan was completed in March 2024 and endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. | 5. Artistic leadership | a. Chief Conductor Umberto Clerici's contract extended through to the end of 2027.
