Purpose statement
Northern Coalfields as a whole delivers Aged Care Services with over 45% of residents currently are concessional, this in part is due to the low socio-eceonomic environment of the LGA,We also maintain and run in Partnership with the department of housing a block of community housing aimed at disadvantaged people over 55yrs or having a disability,We also work in partnership and co-operation with local RTO's and TAFE the work placement of students looking to enter the Aged and Community Areas. We have a small holding of independant living units on our main site.We also help, partner and foster other service providers with like purposes to ensure Aged, disadvantaged and disabled have access to relevant services, One of those is a simple arrangement where we loan our buses to the Local community Transport for Peak times and also to allow for break down and servicing of their units. We also donated through a Service club approx 50 older beds, some walkers and associated aids to be sent to Papua New Quinea for remote hospitals. In fact they were more excited about the mattresses as they generally found them harder to come by.
Change of Purpose
We have purchased a neighbouring block and we are looking at setting up Day respite services, a Mens Shed and Dementia cafe. Whether operating within that timeframe cant be determined as yet but the respite, community care and Mens shed should be at least partly running.
