Purpose statement
Barker College has been a dynamic and forward-thinking inclusive Anglican day and boarding school for over 130 years. The School provides a broadly-based education for boys and girls from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. The academic and co-curricular programs provide challenge and diversity for all students and the wellbeing program has responded to the changing demographic and societal circumstances. While strong academic teaching is the focus, Barker prides itself on producing young men and women who are active learners and intelligent clear thinkers, with interests in Sport, Music and other co-curricular pursuits, while being aware of the needs of and respecting others. Barker College is an Anglican School, however enrols students of many faiths, with an understanding that Barker's Christian values guide all aspects of the School's endeavours. The School activities and outcomes are guided by its vision of being a leader in Christian education that is characterised by a global vision that inspires hope. The School sees its mission as an Anglican community inspiring every learner, every experience, every day. In order to fulfill the vision and mission, the School has identified that all members of the community should conduct themselves with commitment, compassion, courage, integrity and respect.
