Purpose statement
Hearts4heart, supported by Australian and New Zealand cardiologists, is a health promotion charity and peak body that supports, educates and advocates for Australian s living with heart disease. Through a combination of education, advocacy, and support services, Hearts4heart works to reduce the burden of heart disease by improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for those affected. The organisation focuses on raising awareness about heart disease and providing practical education and resources for both patients and healthcare professionals. Its core goals include eliminating preventable deaths, supporting early diagnosis, and offering accessible therapies. Hearts4heart facilitates multiple awareness campaigns that include Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week, Heart Failure Awareness Week, AF Awareness Week, Cholesterol Awareness Week and Supporting Cardiac Care Services in Australia, through national earned media and social media campaigns with a call to action to Get your heart checked . Additionally, it advocates for patient voices in health technology assessments and treatment access decisions, while actively participating in research and clinical guideline committees to ensure patient perspectives are considered. The Heart Buddy Program, a peer support initiative, plays a key role in providing emotional support and practical advice to heart disease patients, helping to reduce isolation and improve psychosocial wellbeing.
