Purpose statement
St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn (the Society) provides practical, frontline support, advocacy, and companionship to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency and transitional accommodation, homelessness support, community inclusion programs, education, youth and justice housing initiatives, energy efficiency assistance, and support for people experiencing mental illness, as well as services for families and young parents. Through our network of local volunteers (Conferences members) we also deliver emergency relief and material aid to individuals and families in need. The Society operates across a vast geographic area, from Lake Cargelligo in the west to Eden on the far south coast of New South Wales. This includes the regions and cities of Temora, Young, Goulburn, Cooma, Bega, Batemans Bay, and Canberra. Our service area covers a population of more than 700,000 people, across a region larger than the state of Tasmania. As a lay organisation inspired by Catholic values, we are guided by a commitment to uphold the dignity of every person and to contribute to a more just and compassionate society. The support of our generous donors is vital in enabling us to continue meeting the growing needs of those most at risk of disadvantage and exclusion in our communities.
